ABOUT VR4React

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Reactive aggression poses a significant concern to public health, as it is triggered by perceived threat, danger, provocation, or frustration, often leading to  intense feelings of anger and rage.

Managing reactive aggressive behaviours is not only essential for the successful release and reintegration of individuals serving a sentence in prison, but also crucial in preventing misconduct and victimization. In fact, it is  considered a primary intervention goal in prison settings worldwide.

To address this issue, the VR4React - Reducing Reactive Aggression through
Virtual Reality project focuses on tackling reactive aggression from two angles

Targeting Inmates: Replacing Reactive Aggression with Prosocial Behavior through Virtual Reality Intervention
+

Firstly, it aims to support individuals serving a sentence in prison in replacing reactive aggressive behaviour with prosocial and adaptive behaviours through an intervention enhanced by Virtual Reality (VR) technology. This intervention provides them with a safe environment for inmates to practice and train their behaviours effectively.

Enhancing Prison Officers'
Competencies: Responding Effectively
to Reactive Aggression through
Blended-Learning Training Program

+

Secondly, the projects aims to enhance the competencies of prison officers in responding effectively to reactive aggressive behaviours among inmates. This will be achieved through a blended-learning technology-enhanced training programme that combines e-learning and Virtual Reality. By utilising this innovative and effective approach, prison officers will have the opportunity to learn and train critical skills and behaviours related to reactive aggression.
