🏆 VR4React AWARDED                                                                                     +

“Best Innovation Project” in Romania

The National Administration of Prisons awarded the VR4Project for its innovative use of virtual reality (VR) technology to address reactive aggression among incarcerated individuals, through direct engagement with both the prison population and staff.

                                                + +

The award followed a commission’s evaluation of multiple projects from prisons across Romania, and it was presented by the General Director of the National Administration of Prisons during the annual Prison Police Day celebration, held on June 29th, 2025.

The VR4React project is now set for nationwide dissemination in Romania and continues to gain international recognition: in Poland, it has been included in the National Catalogue of Projects and will be implemented across the entire prison system.

The VR4React initiative proves highly relevant, as research consistently demonstrates a strong connection between environmental factors and increased levels of misconduct, reactive aggression, disciplinary infractions, and violence. These behaviours are often triggered by perceived threats, provocation, frustration, heightened emotional states such as anger, and impulsive reactions.

Accordingly, the initiative aims to reduce reactive aggression by fostering the development of pro-social and adaptive responses among incarcerated individuals.

The consortium is proud of this recognition, which strengthens the commitment of all partners to advancing innovative technologies within the prison system, fostering more effective and transformative rehabilitation solutions.
